“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
Message: Galatians 5:16-18
Promise: But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law (v.18)
Command: So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh
Warning: For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. (v.17)
Application: To avoid sinful nature, we need to be able to learn how to live my the spirit. To leave the way Christ did. We need to be able to understand that what the flesh desires the spirit conflicts with it.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to be able to understand that the flesh is different from what the spirit desires. Its always easy to follow the flesh but I know that by following the spirit I’ll be able to see more blessings for I chose to follow the spirit. Lord, I know that you always keep your promises and I know that I will never lose my way. AMEN
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Message: Psalms 91
Promise: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty (v.1) Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked (v.3-8) no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra;you will trample the great lion and the serpent.Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”(v.10-16)
Command: If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling (v.9)
Application: This verse is purely about God’s promises to us IF WE PUT OUR TRUST IN HIM AND IF HE GIVE HIM THE BACK THE LOVE THAT HE GIVES US. In verse two ““He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust”. That is what we need to do. we need to make Him our fortress. Because of this He will surely protect those who tust in Him.
Prayer: Lord, Thank you for letting us put our trust in you. I pray Father that as we grow in faith, so those our trust in you. I know Father that you will not go take back your word. So Father, I put my trust in you. For you are my fortress, my God in whom I trust. I entrust my life, heart and soul to you. Thank you Father. Amen.
